Lighthouse Hill Consultation

Background Information and Access to Survey

Introduction

The c.2.4 hectares parcel of land on Lighthouse (highlighted in the map below) currently belongs to Cornwall Council. Cornwall Council has identified this land as surplus to requirements.

An outline business case  to explore the Parish taking on this land was considered and supported by the Parish council. This included establishing a working group consisting of Parish Councillors and Parishioners to move the project forward.

Portreath Parish Council is therefore undertaking a consultation with Parishioners to consider if the council should explore taking on the land and if so what uses do Parishioners believe the land should be used for. The working group will carry out a consultation with Parishioners and liaise with Cornwall Council.

The  consultation, primarily in the form of a survey, will take place during March 2024 to determine the views of Parishioners.

The working group members will also discuss with Cornwall Council the basis on which the land could potentially transfer to the Parish Council.

The survey results and discussions with Cornwall Council will feed into a full business case for the Parish Council to consider sometime around June 2024.

The outline business case considered by the Parish Council, adopted timeline for the consultation, adopted terms of reference for the consultation, terms of reference for the working group for the project, a one page briefing note and access to the survey are available via the links in the adjacent panel.
